Billion Dollar History

By far the most popular and most used search engine out there is Google, and we have become accustomed to those six little letters.

So where did those letters come from?

1988 is when it all started, with a gentleman known as Sergey Brin who used a free Graphics program called GIMP and created a computerized version of the Google logo. Baskerville Bold was the original font, with a version of the colors that make up the current logo. The logo went through a series of changes through the years such as removing the exclamation mark, changing the sequence of colors, thinning out the font, and adding 3-D elements.

For a logo to remain relatively the same for so many years is monumental and only happened due to the great work of the original design. I doubt we will see much change in the logo in future years because of how iconic the logo has become. So iconic a graphic designer could only dream that one of their designs could achieve that.
