Posters From Another Time

Although movie posters aren't as prevalent in the movie business as they used to be they should still appreciated. Saul Bass takes movies from earlier time periods, the classics of Hollywood and puts a minimalistic twist on the posters. He generally only uses two to three objects and keeps the color scheme to a max of five colors with black and white throughout.

So I picked the movie from the 1960's, Breakfast At Tiffany's, which is one of my favorite classics. I thought about the most significant things that make up the plot in the movie, such as her black dress, hair and of course New York City. Keeping the colors muted and minimal in the spirit of Saul Bass, and nixing most of the details and of course using Illustrator to keep the lines and pixels crisp.

I enjoyed this project and appreciate Saul Bass' minimalistic approach to showcasing the classics of Hollywood.

  2. Perfect! Although, I might argue the point about posters not being as relevant today. Let's talk :)
