Each school specializes in something different, some it's football, others it's academics. Where as my school specializes in the production and creation of digital arts, known as our e-Comm program. There are multiple strands in the program such as Graphic Design, Web Design, Animation, and the Video Production strand which has different parts like Video Journalism. All of these strands are a huge part of how my school represents itself.
With so many choices I definitely wavered on which strand to focus on, mainly between Graphic and Web Design. After thought, and a whole year in both strands I decided to make Web Design my main focus.
Web isn't the first choice of many because it lacks the glitz of Graphic and Video, but I see the benefits of it in many different ways. I love how Web not only ties the practical and technical knowledge with creative ideas to create something that can respond to your client. Your final creation isn't a piece of paper or someone's desktop background, it is a website where people can be creative on their own or get what they need.
Going into Web Design full time next year is very exciting, and I am interested to see what creative things I can produce with the tools that the e-Comm program provides me.
